but panic will get in the way sometimes.
I arrived early (7ish) and had a brief conversation with lyteinc. After he left, all the people that were around were people I was not comfortable with. I didn't want to go inside, because I didn't want to order a drink because Andy was not there to make them. So I went out to my car and took a nap.
Woke up at 8, feeling odd, and headed inside. The patio was crowded with people I didn't know, so I bypassed it completely. As soon as I stepped inside, i tried to head towards the back, where I assumed I would find the people I was looking for (Nico, Steph, and Season). Before I could get back there, Buddha stepped in front of me, forcing me toward the bar and stopping my forward movement. He started trying to talk at me, and I honestly have no idea what he was trying to say. I was so freaked out by the trapped feeling, already overwhelmed by the crowd.
Almost immediately after this incident started, some one I don't know approached me from behind and started asking me about my tattoos ... stating that last time he had seen me i had only one, and when did i get the new one, and what was it ... hint ... if you want to talk to me, and I don't know you, don't box me in and FUCKING INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Season came up about half a second before i would have started shrieking and shoving, and saved me. I was so happy to see her, and i felt terrible about needing to go, but i could not handle it in there. She led me to Nico and Steph, and then i ran away to the parking lot with Nico ... Nico gave me this beautiful dress, a pretty pretty purple one. It almost fits ... it will fit and my non-smoking food issues die down. It goes on and zips up and everything ... it just highlights some ... um ... curves. She also gave me a very cool velvety coat that I snuggled in for the rest of the night. Steph gave me a card that made me smile and feel a bit better.
I left there and called Cody, who I had planned on going to see after Open Mic. Joe gave me directions, and I drove to my mom's to drop Flea off and then headed over to their place.
Honestly, that was just what I needed in terms of socialization. A quiet night with a couple of friends I trust. I should have known better than to try and go out in a crowd. We had lots of fun, watching DVDs, drinking a bit, and she gave me chocolate and small presents from Mexico. Michael joined us after he left work, and Joe brought out the hookah (yes, i know it is tobacco. i don't care. it's not cigarettes.) and we had some yummy apricot flavored hookah. Joe showed me some of the art he has done since starting art school, and it is quite impressive.
Michael and I had a really nice, relaxing time there. I should make an effort to spend more time over there, especially since they live so close now.
And Cody has the fattest mouse ever. And the only hamster I've ever held who wasn't a bitey little bastard.
Michael and I left there and went to our favorite Denny's with our favorite waiter. We sat in the closed off section because the guy is really cool with my requests to be as far away as possible from any other people in the restaurant. And we both had a good laugh as we were leaving ... this doe-eyed girl, looked about 16 or 17 walks in with a boy as we were paying our tab. First thing we notice is that the girl is wearing the shortest skirt ever ... i know i wear some scandalous skirts, and this topped anything i owned. Now remember it's 3am, and pretty fucking cold outside. She's got no stockings or anything on, just the microskirt and a little shirt. So the scene is this: brightly lit Denny's, people eating food in several places around the restaurant. Front door is unlocked, waitstaff are wandering about. I am at the front counter paying. The girl walks up to the waiter. "Um ... are you guys open?"
The waiter was giggling, and the guy she was with had this disgusted look on his face.
Michael and I cuddled in the car for a while, talking of things important only to us, until my cramps told me that I needed to go home and lie down. So I did.
