So I'm here ...

The following was written while waiting in the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport ...

Things learned during a four-hour layover in Dallas/Fort Worth …

Two beers midafternoon on an empty stomach and little sleep was probably not the best idea …

The food in this airport isn’t bad, just expensive …

I miss home already …

I’ve devised a different way to wear my hair … I’m trying it out here and maybe at the conference before I try it at home …

I cannot smoke without going outside and coming back through the security checkpoint … I am not going to go through that pain in the ass again, and I have my bandage scissors in my purse I’d rather not take the chance of losing . I’m surprised they got through the first checkpoint … I had forgotten they were in there until looking for something while on the plane … Therefore, I’m going to be fairly cranky by the time I get to New Orleans, since I haven’t had a cigarette since last night.

Lucky me, they didn’t make me take my shoes off.

Looking at the desert from above never, ever gets old, no matter how many times I’ve seen it.

No matter how annoyed people are that I’m sitting here playing music on my laptop, no one has the balls to tell me to knock it off.

So I’ve got this layover … in the interest of keeping myself occupied for a little bit of time, I went looking for a drink. I found a sports bar playing a mix of horrible 80’s music and great 80’s music (I know it’s a fine line) … how often do you have a chance to drink and listen to the Cure in an airport bar in Dallas decorated in Cowboys memorabilia …

So after getting a little toasty, I found myself some food and have been sitting here for a couple hours, waiting for my flight to New Orleans that boards at 8:47 pm … it’s now 8ish … boredom has set in …

Okay … the constant click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click of rolling luggage on the tile floor is really starting to grate my nerves …

I’m almost tempted to just go airport-wandering, but it’s getting a little late for that …

So after that bit of fun, i got on another plane and arrived safely in New Orleans not too long ago. Got to do the oh-so-fun airport shuttle thing ... yeah, that was great ... crammed into a van with a bunch of other tired and cranky people. This hotel is really nice ... scary nice, I'm afraid I'm going to break something.

I'm impressed with the bit of New Orleans I've seen so far ... crumbling grandeur ...

Ok, outside for another smoke and then i need to try and get some sleep ... got breakfast reservations in the morning ...
