i work on cars

i may need some practice before roller derby

In less than two hours of skating, I only fell three times. Once was on the carpet, not attempting to move at all (a "banana peel moment", Kim called it). That one hurt worse than the rest. A fun sendoff for Ambria, and a good opportunity to learn that we all suck at skating. Some of us in more entertaining ways than others.

Christine and I got tangled up in each other's skates. Vi tried to skate backwards to take a picture of Ambria, and they both ended up in a heap on the skating rink floor. Jimmy fell, but I missed that one, thankfully. Brian nearly tripped over one of the many small skating vermin, and just about launched himself over the wall I was leaning on trying to stop after that.

Fun was had. Drinking in the parking lot beforehand may not have been the best idea as far as skating goes, but a decent amount of beer made the falls a little easier to take, if not more frequent.

I had my camera with me, and then super-smart me locked it up in the locker with my purse. So I took some after-skate pics as we were getting out of there. The lighting sucked and everyone moved or blinked when I took the pics, so this is pretty much the only good one i've got. Me and Tina. I like it.

Also tonight, I found muscles in my legs that I didn't know I had. They hurt now.

I'm home with Michael again. He's done with homework for today, I've got Chinese beer, and we're watching the Seattle drag races. Next weekend, Brad and I are driving up to Sonoma for the race. He's working on Ron August's car, and I'm pretty much a spectator. Odd spot for me. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Maybe Ronnie will let me wash parts or something.
